An old-fashioned, political spy thriller starring Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) both of whom work well at the centre of the story. The plot of BEIRUT is complex and intelligent. It’s good to see a movie that relies on a compelling narrative rather than depending on action. There’s nothing particularly innovative but it unfolds slowly and satisfyingly. A solid and realistic film.
