FOXTROT is a joint Israel-Switzerland-German-France production. Its opening scenes are like a punch in the face that begins an intense exploration of the universal experience of grief and its impact on a family. The narrative is structured around three locations — the first when the news of a couple’s son being killed in battle is delivered at the front door of their home; the second at the military outpost; and then, finally, back home as the fallout from the events unfold. The actors (unknown to me before this movie) are excellent. The story is an emotional rollercoaster ride with an unexpected twist at the end. Absorbing drama.
