GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE (2022)

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE is a delightful comedy-drama directed by Sophie Hyde and starring Emma Thompson. Nancy Stokes (Thompson), a 55-year-old widow, is bored with her life and yearning for some adventure, human connection, and some good sex. When she meets Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack), a charming younger man, she finally gets what she’s been looking for.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE is a funny, warm, and relatable film about love and second chances. Emma Thompson is superb as the lovably flawed Nancy, who is both endearing and exasperating in equal measure. The chemistry between her and McCormack is electric.

The exploration of an ageing woman’s sexuality is honest and courageous. And its themes of self-acceptance and self-love are sensitively portrayed.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE is a charming, funny, and insightful film that is sure to delight.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
