The hype is highly exaggerated. The first half of the movie is good but the last half descends into an over-the-top, bizarre finish. It wasn’t all that scary although there were some pretty nasty scenes that will be hard to forget. There are some deep themes like guilt and resentment that would have made a great movie if they had been followed through with a more human, psychological thriller approach than a supernatural horror ending. Once the script turns to supernatural causes of all the horror, it loses any true power the story might have had.
