HOTEL MUMBAI (2019)

Hotel MumbaiThe true story of the Taj Hotel terrorist attack in Mumbai. Hotel staff risk their lives to keep everyone safe as people make unthinkable sacrifices to protect themselves and their families.

A brilliant, intense, emotional, powerful movie. An amazing achievement for director Anthony Maras given this is his first feature film. The pace is perfect and the tension never lets up. While there is, obviously, some terrible violence, the main focus is on the way in which the hotel staff and guests pull together to help each other survive through this shocking ordeal. Anupam Kher, who plays the head waiter, and who was a real character in the actual events, is excellent. But the acting by everyone is outstanding. It’s almost impossible to put into words the experience of seeing this film — or what those who lived through the ordeal must have felt. The movie shows how mindless fundamentalist extremists are in following their religious leaders who are willing to sacrifice human life for their ideology. A must see movie that will leave you exhausted and deeply affected.
