A good, old-fashioned, clichéd submarine thriller which actually has a surprisingly contemporary message for our times. I enjoyed it for what it was. Gerard Butler puts in a solid turn as the American submarine captain. And Linda Cardellini is very good as Jane Norquist, the senior NSA Analyst, who has to run a very thin line of sharing information and withholding it from the men she is working with. It’s all pretty predictable but executed well. There are some very tense moments and the director, Donovan Marsh, does an adequate job of keeping the tension ramped up. Good fun and better than I expected.
