LADIES IN BLACK (2018)
Adapted from the bestselling novel by Madeleine St John, Ladies in Black is an alluring and tender-hearted comedy-drama about the lives of a group of department store employees in 1959 Sydney.

A very pleasant story simply told with warmth and humour. Competently acted with a standout performance from Julia Ormond as Magda. Explores issues of European immigration in Australia in the late ‘50s in Sydney, Australia, and the navigation of cultural differences. There’s romance and drama. Despite all this, the script lacks depth and the whole thing is a bit like looking through a shop window. Entertaining but could have been so much more.
