Land (2021)

Edee (Robin Wright), in the aftermath of an unfathomable event, finds herself unable to stay connected to the world she once knew and in the face of that uncertainty, retreats to the magnificent, but unforgiving, wilds of the Rockies. After a local hunter brings her back from the brink of death, she must find a way to live again.

Cliched and predictable but still enjoyable and, at times, moving. Wright (WONDER WOMAN), who is onscreen most of the time, does a particularly good job of portraying her character’s grief, depression, and desperation as she struggles to survive physically and emotionally in the wilds. The relationship she develops with a couple of locals is handled well with sensitivity. The pace is slow but never boring. It’s a gentle, reflective story that is moving and, sometimes heartbreaking. The landscape is harsh and beautiful and reflects the inner experience of Edee. A movie that treads a familiar path but is good enough to watch.
