Maigret (2022)
What a plodding, dull, and boring movie the new Maigret (2022) movie is. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to watch it. Directed by Patrice Leconte and starring Gérard Depardieu, it’s a movie about a Parisian police commissioner who tries to identify a dead body and then find out what happened to the victim. The movie is set in the 1950s, but it could just as easily be set in any time. There are no interesting characters or plot twists. It’s just one boring scene after another.
The acting is not bad, but the movie is so slow and uninteresting that it’s hard to care about the characters. The colour palette adds to the feeling of drabness.
The only thing that I can say positive about this movie is that it’s short, clocking in at only 90 minutes. But even that felt long. I can’t recommend this movie to anyone. It’s not even worth watching on a rainy day when you have nothing else to do. Save your time and go watch something else.
