Marrowbone (2017)
Marrowbone (2017) is a haunting and atmospheric film directed by Sergio G. Sánchez. The movie follows the Marrowbone brothers, who are forced to move to their mother’s old, abandoned house after she dies. Soon, they realize that the house is haunted by her spirit, as well as other dark forces.
George MacKay, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Stagg play the Marrowbone brothers. They give strong performances, conveying the fear, terror, and isolation that their characters are feeling. Mia Goth also gives a standout performance as the Marrowbone’s mother. And Anya Taylor-Joy plays Jane, the Marrowbone’s neighbour, and only friend.
Sánchez does an excellent job of creating an eerie and suspenseful atmosphere. The film is visually stunning, with beautiful shots of the English countryside. The Marrowbone house is especially eerie, with its dark corridors and hidden rooms. The movie is also very well-paced, building up the tension and suspense until the final, heart-stopping moments — although it does become very confusing unless you watch carefully. And the score by Fernando Velázquez is haunting.
Overall, Marrowbone (2017) is a well-done film that is sure to send chills down your spine. It’s visually stunning, suspenseful, and creepy, with strong performances by the cast.
