TAG

TAGFor one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade. This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready.

There were moments of good fun and humour in TAG but they are rare — it’s mostly a pretty unfunny film. The theme about enduring friendships, and what holds them together, is a good one but it doesn’t make the best use of it. After a while, the script gets pretty repetitive. TAG is inspired by a true story of a group of friends who played the game for 23 years. It’s obvious that the movie pushes this way beyond what is realistic – and legal! The cast put in some good-natured performances but the story needed to have a bit more variety rather than the same “templated” scenes over and over again. Undemanding entertainment that doesn’t satisfy.
