A compelling drama. Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce are both excellent in the lead roles but Glenn Close (playing Joan Castleman) is incredible as the wife who has been marginalised for decades as her husband basks in the limelight. The story unfolds with great subtlety as we are gradually introduced to the past that has brought Joan to her, until now, a well-disguised simmering undercurrent of anger and resentment. THE WIFE is directed with precision and with just enough flashbacks to inform the present. And the ending … excellent! THE WIFE is a must see.
