Theater Camp (2023)
Theater Camp is a mockumentary about a rundown theatre camp in upstate New York that a group of eccentric staff try to keep running when the beloved founder, Joan, is admitted to hospital after becoming seriously ill. The person who takes charge is Joan’s son, Troy, who is devoid of understanding of the heart of the camp.
While there were a few humorous moments, most of the movie was mediocre, uninspired, and predictable. The character development was weak, and apart from Ben Platt and Molly Gordon’s performances, the cast was forgettable. In fact, the whole experience of watching this movie is forgettable. If you are a fan of Platt and Morgan, you might want to check it out, but even they couldn’t save the movie from its weak plot, confused tone, and poor execution. Give it a miss.
