Ticket to Paradise (2022)
TICKET TO PARADISE, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, is a pleasant, clean, entertaining, undemanding rom-com. It’s the kind of movie you can watch with your folks and not have to worry about any awkwardness.
The story is hackneyed but George and Julia make it work. They play divorced couple Georgia and David, who reconnect when their daughter invites them on a trip to Bali for her wedding. When Georgia and David meet up, the decide they will collaborate on stopping their daughter from getting married. Yes, it’s one of those “we went on this trip to save our daughter and fell in love all over again” tales.
What TICKET TO PARADISE lacks in originality, it makes up for in heart. There are some genuinely sweet moments between Clooney and Roberts, and they have excellent chemistry. The film also has a great sense of place, making you feel like you’re right there in Bali with the characters (even though it was filmed in Queensland, Australia!).
If you’re looking for a light, feel-good movie to watch with your family or significant other, TICKET TO PARADISE is worth checking out. It’s not going to change your life, but it will give you a few hours of escapism.
