You Won’t Be Alone (2022)
YOU WON’T BE ALONE is an amazing debut feature movie from Goran Stolevski. It is set in a remote mountain village in 19th-century Macedonia. The story follows a young feral witch who accidentally kills a peasant. She then takes on the peasant’s form to see what life is like from their perspective. This deepens her curiosity about life and leads her on a journey of exploration, both inside and outside of herself. The film is visually stunning, with beautiful cinematography that captures the ethereal quality of the story.
The acting is also superb. Sara Klimoska is outstanding as the young witch, and her performance is both eerie and mesmerizing. The pace is slow and deliberate, but this only adds to the film’s atmosphere of mystery and suspense. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen.
YOU WON’T BE ALONE is a profound story about identity, self-discovery, and acceptance. It is a haunting, beautiful, and thought-provoking movie with a truly unique perspective.
The uniqueness of this movie means it won’t be for everyone. Don’t expect a Hollywood horror movie. It is not mainstream, so be warned. It is likely to be different to anything else you have seen. For me, it was worth the risk to see it. A fascinating and original film.
